Meet Our Team! Craig Smith: Foreman

How long have you worked at Soep? I have been working with Soep for approximately 5 years, ever since I relocated from Vermont.

What do you feel is unique about working at Soep? It’s a family run business with employees that have been around for as many as 40 years. Once you become a Soep employee you feel a part of that family.

What is the most memorable project you’ve been involved with at Soep? There are two that come to mind. The first was a project at Dana-Farber pediatric cancer unit. I remember getting compliments from the patients and their parents, telling me how good the colors made them feel and thinking to myself how strong they were to say such things with what they were facing. It put a great sense pride behind our work.

Second, having the opportunity to paint the Bright-Landry Arena at Harvard and working in coach Ted Donato’s office, a former Olympian who also has a son on the current US Olympic hockey team. When we wrapping up the project he gave me a couple hockey sticks and some Harvard apparel to give to my son.

How is your role critical to the strategic vision and success of Soep? It’s my responsibility to produce high-quality work at a high rate of efficiency and train up-and-coming painters to do the same.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your job? The pride of handing over a completed project and knowing that the owners and general contractors will use us again.

When I’m not at work, you’ll find me… Coaching Little League, hunting, fishing and spending time with my family.
